Blues in the Night

The Directors

Wes Skinner (Director & Choreographer) We has been actively involved with dance and musical theatre for the last 30 years.  He received his BFA from the Boston Conservatory of Music with a Major in Dance and a Minor in Musical Theatre.  Upon graduation, he spent several years in New York and the East performing in Broadway shows such as West Side Story and Camelot.  Wes and hi long-time companion, Gracie, have been in Toledo for 20 years where both have been involved with community theatre.  Most recently, Wes choreographed our production of Cabaret, directed 70, Girls, 70, A Little Night Music, and Suds.  When not working on a production or remodeling an old house, Wes does package design for the corrugated industry.

Deb Wlodarski (Musical Director) The Village Players, The Bedford Community Players and The Monroe Community Players have all come to appreciate and rely on Debbie's talent.  She has been our musical directory for 70, Girls, 70, Dames at Sea, Angry Housewives, A Little Night Music, and Suds.  She balances this on top of her home business, organist for Hope Lutheran Church (in B.G.) and teaching piano lessons.  Welcome back and thanks again for everything.

The Cast

Karla Behrman (The Lady) Karla resides in Wauseon where she gives voice and piano lessons and is the Station manager at INTV, the local-access television station for several communities in Northwest Ohio.  Some other favorite roles include Marge from last year's production of Suds here at The Village, Dolly Levi from Hello Dolly, Joanna from Godspell, and Sister Hubert from Nunsense.  She also enjoyed singing in the wonderful music of Kander and Ebb in the musical review The World Goes round.  The special people in her life include her jusband, Tracy, who is a published composer of concert band music and the Band Directory in Wauseon, son, Adam, who is a senior at Ohio State majoring in Atmospheric Sciences and daughter, Amy, who is a sophomore at California State in Long Beach, where she hopes to work in the entertainment industry.  Karla thanks all the people who work so hard to make theatre happen in Toledo.

Jake Gordy (The Man in the Saloon) You may remember Jake as Henrik from our production of A Little Night Music, or as Gately from our production of Pvt. Wars, for which he garnered Regional and State OCTA awards. He has also been seen in our productions of The Female Odd Couple, 70, Girls, 70, Last Night of Ballyhoo, Cabaret, and 1940's Radio Hour. By day, Jake is a Network Administrator for TekSystems, but considers acting his "true calling." He currently serves on The Village Players' Board of Directors and also as our webmaster. He enjoys swimming, remodeling his house, and cruising in his 1972 LeMans. He'd like to thank his family and Tom for encouraging and supporting his love of theatre.

Ellen Noneman (The Girl) Ellen entered into this world as the "type A' person she is - feet first and four minutes earlier than her twin sister!  She is currently a school psychologist with the Toledo Public Schools and is grateful for her theatre background as it comes in handy at work on a daily basis!  Ellen is also proud of her daughter, Kylie, who has performed leads at Notre Dame Acadamy and local theatre productions in such roles as Adelaide in Guys and Dolls and Winifred in Once Upon A Matress.  Ellen has performed numerous roles at The Westgate Dinner Theatre, as well as the Toledo Reertoire, The Village Players and the Oregon Players.  Her favorite roles include Fastrada in Pippin, Laurie in Oklahoma, Marion in The Music Man, Fiona in Brigadoon, Evita in Evita, Guinevere in Camelot and Sarah in Guys and Dolls.  She is delighted to be a part of Blues in the Night.

Dana Pilrose (The Woman) Dana is proud to say that she was born and raised in Toledo.  She began her theatrical career as a chorus member of The Pajama Game in Perrysburg, and followed this up as The Virgin in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.  Since then, she has been in over 30 area productions.  Most recently she appeared as Desiree in A Little Night Music at The Village Players, performed in Jeffery at The Toledo Rep and was in 'Twas The Night Before Christmas at the Valentine Theatre.  Dana has received two acting awards from OCTA.  "I wish to express my thanks to all my friends for their loyal support and especially to director Wes Skinner, this is our third show together in twenty years - more, I want more!"
