The Director

Nancy Wright:  Nancy is an actor turned writer. Her comedy Cherchez Dave Robicheaux won the 2001 New Plays Competition at Sonoma County Repertory Theatre. The play will be produced again in Cleveland in March. Nancy's dark comedy Mimi's Famous Company was produced last summer in Chicago (Heartland Studio Theatre) and in Norfolk, VA (Generic Theater). Other recently produced scripts include Becoming . . . Somebody (Gallery Players, NYC), In Twenty-Five Words or Worse (The Riant Theatre & Love Creek Productions, NYC), Zoë's Story (The New Jersey Rep & Generic Theater), and The Unitarian, Libertarian, Vegetarian Way (Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center). Zoë's Story is featured in Best Stage Scenes 1999 and Best Women's Stage Monologues 1999 published by Smith & Kraus. In August, the Association of Theatre in Higher Education awarded Nancy for her drama about Appalachian women, Remembering Day, and staged it at their Chicago conference. These days she's writing novels. (Ask her about Whiskey Mattimoe-not a beverage but her latest fictional heroine.) Nancy dedicates her work on Children to Diana the Brave and Buoyant.

The Cast

Sarah Collier (Barbara):  Sarah has been in many plays, including Arsenic & Old Lace (1992), Oliver! (1993), Anything Goes (1994), and South Pacific (1995).  She is currently attending Bowling Green State University, majoring in Film Production with a minor in Theatre.  She would like to thank her fiancé and family for their continuing support and her stepson Erik for behaving for his father throughout all of the rehearsals.  The is Sarah's first appearance in a Village Player's production, and we welcome her to our stage.

Andrew J. Neary (Randy):  Andy returns to the Village Players' stage from his last acting role in Not Waving.  He thoroughly enjoys designing lights, stage managing, directing and building sets when not acting.  His performance and lighting design are dedicated to his recently departed friend, Deb.

Kate Argow (Mother):  Kate was last seen at The Village Players as the secretary in Laughter on the 23rd Floor. Kate's acting career has ranged from Shakespeare to Restoration Comedy, from Tennessee Williams to Musical Comedy.  She has been active behind the scenes as a technician, a murder mystery writer, and a board member of The Village Players.  Her current passion is her jewelry business, Brilliant Ideas Ltd.  Just ask her.  She would like to thank the company of Children for a wonderful experience, and especially, Nancy Wright for giving her the opportunity to play Mother.

Laura Fleck (Jane):  Laura's first appearance on the stage was here, at The Village, as Helen and numerous other characters in last season's production Not Waving.  During the day, Laura does her bit for the economy as an Applications Developer for Honeywell in Perrysburg.  Laura wishes to thank family and friends for their support.

Jordy Greenleaf (Pokey):  Jordy comes to us from Pittsburgh, where he and his wife Julia appeared in a long-running dinner-theatre production of Fiddler on the Roof. This is Jordy's first time on the Village Players' stage, and he is pleased to have made so many new friends. To Ron he adds, "Thanks for making me look good."
