The Cast

D. Nicholas Hansen (Lonnie Roy McNeil) has been very busy here at the Village and elsewhere. This summer he directed Much Ado About Nothing. Also at the Village he was Silvio in Pvt. Wars which won him an Excellence in Acting from OCTA regionals, and Mickey in Greetings which also brought him an Excellence in Acting from OCTA regionals. Other theatre credits include Murder by Misadventure Toledo Rep, Midsummer Night’s Dream Toledo Rep and Twelfth Night UT. Derek can also be seen in the independent film Backwater (due for release in 2003). His numerous skills were also put to work on the film In The Company of Strangers where he acted as assistant director. Derek will be graduating from The University of Toledo in 2003 with a B.F.A. in Theatre and a B.A. in History.

Tom Tomczak (L.D. Alexander) has appeared or directed over 50 plays since 1957. Tom’s favorites roles were Harold Hill The Music Man Croswell Opera House, Sir Wilfred Witness for the Prosecution Toledo Rep, The Professor Educating Rita Village Players. He has directed All My Sons, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Broadway Bound, and Biloxi Blues" among many others at The Village and Toledo Rep. He also appears as co-host for Let’s Eat Toledo. With the time he has left, Tom plays bad golf.

Rich Harrison (Rufe Phelps) may look familiar to Village regulars. He’s appeared in 8 Village productions, including most recently Moon Over Buffalo, 70 Girls 70 and Laughter on the 23rd Floor. He’s also appeared in Gross Indecency – The 3 Trials of Oscar Wilde a the Toledo Rep and other area productions. Rich’s talents were also utilized in a TV commercial and two independent films, In The Company of Strangers and Backwater. After 30 years in the Personnel Placement Industry, Rich has started a new career in Financial Planning, specializing in long-term care. Rich interests involve sports, grandchildren and the continuing renovation of a home in the historical Old West End. Rich expresses his love and gratitude to April for her understanding, support and patience with his theatre involvement.

Tom Wagner (Red Grover) An OCTA award winner, Tom Holds a degree in theatre from Pacific Lutheran U. He has performed and directed extensively around this area and on the west coast. At the Village he recently appeared as Teddy in Arsenic and Old Lace. Tom has also has worked with Rep, Waterville Playshop, Valentine Theatre Productions, Black Swamp Players (Clark in Sunshine Boys), and the Sylvania Historical Society. Tom is the owner of Promotional Resources Co. in Maumee, where he is also president of the Maumee Council for the Arts. Tom is very happy to be back with The Village Players.

Terry Watson (Milo Crawford) last appeared with Tomczak in West Side Story when he was a sophomore in high school with the LynRo Players. "Where did the years go?" This is Terry’s first non-musical role. He wants to thank John Henry for his confidence. Terry is the resident choreographer for Perrysburg High. This year they produced Les Miserables - Student Edition. Terry’s favorite roles are MC Cabaret, Nicely Nicely Guys and Dolls, the Leading Player Pippin and Phantom Pinch Penny Phantom. Terry is a manager for American Steel Treating.

Kimm Williams (Ramsey-Eyes Blankenship) first role was here at the Village as Crooks in Of Mice and Men. While new to theatre Kimm has plenty of other activities to keep him busy. Kimm’s hobbies are Civil War Reenactment, motorcycles, Masters Track & Field and magic. A Toledo Firefighter since 1978, Kimm has held positions as a recruiter, public educator, and instructor. Kimm was even "Fireman Freddie" for a while. Welcome back Kimm.

John Jennens (Skip Hampton) has appeared as James That Championship Season, Sam Lips Together Teeth Apart, Andrew I Hate Hamlet, and as Natwick Pvt. Wars at the Village Players. His efforts as Natwick (under the tutelage of directors John Henry and Norb Mills) were recognized with an Excellence in Acting award at OCTA. While he has enjoyed a number of roles at other area theatres, he counts those at the Village as his favorites. John has been gainfully employed as a radio announcer, a television sports anchor and has made appearances in film, radio, and TV commercials. Now let’s commence with this here play so’s we can git to the refreshments!

Larry Farley (Olin Potts) has returned to the stage at the Village after directing The Odd Couple (female version) and Of Mice and Men. He could not pass up on the opportunity to play a boob, everybody told him it would be so easy for him to be in character. His evenings are free since he’s completed electronic monitored work release and he is anxious to be able to walk around without shackles.

Norb Mills (Colonel J. C, Kinkaid) began acting while still in high school ... years ago. He says he has lost count of the number of productions he has been involved in. He does recount that his first show at the Village was The Last Meeting of the Knights of the White Magnolia done in 1981. He played the part of Rufe in that production and recalls "it was a gas." Norb has received two OCTA awards for acting and one OCTA award for co-directing Pvt. Wars with John Henry. Norb is a professor of Communication at The University of Toledo.
