Julie Zatko (Director) If you were with us last June, you may remember the hysterically funny Psycho Beach Party. Julie directed that show on the heels of directing Over the River and Through the Woods! Well, she’s doing it again, folks! As soon as On Golden Pond closes, Julie will be grooming the cast of The Shape of Things, which we will proudly present in June. Julie has been a valued director and lighting designer for us since 1999, directing shows such as Painting Churches and Social Security. Also, she has taken on two additional roles over the past year; she co-produced Tuna Christmas, and was elected to the Board of Directors.
John Henry (Norman Thayer Sr.)
"A man of many talents" barely begins to describe this dedicated thespian. John
has been an usher, a house manager, light and sound tech, spot operator, set
designer and builder, painter, scenic artist, box office attendant ... the list
goes on. John is also an accomplished actor, having appeared in
Arsenic and Old Lace,
Of Mice and Men, and
Painting Churches, but that's only since
1999. Additionally, John is an OCTA award-winning director for his debut
production of Pvt. Wars. With such a diverse
background in the theatrical craft, you can understand why he's one of our most
cherished volunteers. When not here, John enjoys old British cars, motorcycles,
history and archaeology, but we have a hard time letting him go long enough to
get around to those things.
Jean Mills (Ethel Thayer)
If you saw last year’s Driving Miss Daisy at the Toledo Rep, then you are
familiar with the talented, OCTA award winning Jean Mills. You may also have
seen her in A Little Night Music,
Mixed Emotions, or
Sylvia on our stage (just to name a few). Jean
serves as President of the Board of Directors for The Village and is also a
teacher at Maumee High School. When not working or acting, she enjoys traveling,
reading, ballroom dancing and going to the theatre.
Pat Mahoney (Charlie Martin)
Please welcome a newcomer to The Village! Pat is an Account Manager for National
Nail Corporation. He has a BBA in Marketing and an MBA in Finance from the
University of Toledo. Previously he has been seen as Allan Felix in Play it
Again Sam, and Ken Gorman in Rumors. He has been active with both The
Collingwood Arts Center and The Oregon Community Theatre. He is also Past
President of the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio. In his spare time he enjoys
traveling, playing guitar, poker, sports, and reading.
Susan Doktor (Chelsea Thayer Wayne)
On Golden Pond marks Susan’s dramatic
debut in Toledo. She last appeared on stage at 18 in a college production of
Kennedy’s Children, alongside Jim Trumm (Bill Ray), who pursued her
relentlessly until she finally consented to marry him. With On Golden Pond,
Jim and Susan celebrate 27 years together. Susan is a creative director for
Calphalon Corporation, proud mother of twins Joshua and Spencer, and utterly
smitten with Sophie, her golden retriever. Welcome to The Village, Susan!
A.J. LaPorta (Billy Ray)
This is A.J.’s first time appearing on our stage. He is a student at The Toledo
School for the Arts and enjoys fishing, hunting, reading, singing, cooking and
basket weaving in his spare time. He is a Gold Medal Chef and also a National
Tap Dance Champion! To his credit, he has previously appeared as Rooster in
Annie, Young Abel in Children of Eden, and in the choruses of A
Cowboy Christmas and The Wizard of Oz. Welcome to The Village, A.J.!
Jim Trumm (Bill Ray)
Jim last appeared on stage at age 18 in a college production of Kennedy’s
Children alongside Susan Doktor (Chelsea Thayer), who pursued him
relentlessly until he finally consented to marry her. He teaches philosophy,
humanities and writing at Owens College. He is a past member of Masterworks
Chorale who enjoys taking bicycle trips with his sons.
