The Director

Wes Skinner (Director) has been actively involved in theatre, working as a set and costume designer, choreographer, and director for over 40 years. Beginning in Boston, he received his BFA at the Conservatory with a major in Dance and a minor in Musical Theater. He then spent several years in New York City. Finally returning to Toledo, he began working with The Village Players in 1971, doing Roar of the Greasepaint. He most recently directed A Little Night Music, Suds, Blues in the Night, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, and Monky Business. When not at The Village, he also works with the Ottawa Hills High School’s theatre department, restores old homes in the Old West End and, just so he won’t get bored, works part time at The Toledo Museum of Art.

The Cast

Jean Mills (Lily Harrison) was bitten by the acting bug in her grade school days in Oak Park, Illinois, and has continued her involvement at the high school, college, and community theater levels ever since. A past president of The Village Players and current Board member, her most recent performances at The Village Players were in The Best Man and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. She has also produced numerous shows as well as worked backstage. Jean’s most memorable role was Daisy in Driving Miss Daisy. Now retired after 40+ years as a high school teacher, Jean is enjoying traveling, reading, ballroom dancing with her husband Norb, volunteer work, and not having a set schedule every day. She is thankful both to The Village Players for providing a creative outlet for her since 1981, and to the hundreds of loyal play-goers who support The Village Players. She offers her performance as a gift to them.

Jimmy Pickle (Michael Minetti) is very grateful for being a part of this production: this is the role of a lifetime. Jimmy has appeared in many Village Players productions. He was last seen in Don’t Dress For Dinner. Other shows include Sly Fox, Psycho Beach Party, Of Mice And Men, and — 25 years ago — Kiss Me Kate, and The Lion In Winter. At other venues, his credits include Heaven Can Wait, Once Upon A Mattress, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Escanaba In Da Moonlight, Jeffery, Hello Dolly, Barnum, and Give My Regards To Broadway, as well as improvisational theater in Chicago. When Jimmy is not on stage you can find him “performing” at Stein Mart where he is the Home Décor manager. Jimmy would like to dedicate this performance to his family, friends, co-workers, and Robert for all their love and support, but mostly to his mother who is watching from heaven.
