The Directors

Julie Zatko (Director)  In September of 1999, The Village produced Painting Churches.  It was Julie's first time directing at this theatre.  Since that time, she has come to be a valued director bringing us last year's Over the River and Through the Woods.  Her next directorial job will be for Psycho Beach Party in June, that's right, she's doing them back-to-back!  When not shining in the director's seat, she sheds light on the actors as one of our lighting designers.

The Cast

Don Weber (David KahnDon is an award-winning actor, having performed with numerous theatre companies in the area over the past 30 years including The Croswell Opera House, The Rep, and the former Westgate Dinner Theatre. He was last seen in our production of Sunshine Boys as Al Lewis.  If you didn't blink, you also saw him in Toledo Opera's Die Fleidermaus at the Valentine Theate. Among his favorite roles: "Pseudolous" in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum; "Snoopy" in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; and "Oscar" in The Odd Couple.

Dana Pilrose (Barbara KahnDana is proud to say that she was born and raised in Toledo.  She began her theatrical career as a chorus member of The Pajama Game in Perrysburg, and followed this up as The Virgin in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.  Since then, she has been in over 30 area productions.  Most recently she appeared as The Woman in Blues in the Night and as Desiree in A Little Night Music at The Village Players, she performed in Jeffery at The Toledo Rep and was in 'Twas The Night Before Christmas at the Valentine Theatre.  Dana has received two acting awards from OCTA. Dana's first encounter with Julie was when they both performed in Wit at The Toledo Rep.  Welcome back, Dana!

Lynnie Heinemann (Trudy Heyman)  This is the third time that Lynnie has appeared on The Village's stage.  You may remember her from Arsenic and Old Lace or The Female Odd Couple.  She has most recently been seen in Last of the Red Hot Lovers at Ms. Rose's Dinner Theatre and Rebecca at The Toledo Rep.  By day you can find Lynnie at St. Luke's Hospital where she is a Body Recall Instructor or at the Toledo Hospital where she is a Recreational Therapist.  It's good to have you back.

Marc Malley (Martin Heyman)  Marc may not look familiar, but he is an integral part of The Village Players.  More often than not, you only hear his work as he is one of our dedicated sound-technicians; he also serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors.  Once in a great while Marc is coaxed out of the booth by a role that he can't resist.  The last time that happened was in November of 1996 when he played Pops Bailey in our production of 1940's Radio Hour.  Outside of the theatre, Marc is a teacher with Bedford High  School.  He also enjoys travel, reading,  biking, politics and he is a movie-buff.

Jean Mills (Sophie Greengrass)  If you saw Driving Miss Daisy at the Toledo Rep, then you are familiar with the talented Jean Mills.  You may also have seen her in A Little Night Music, Mixed Emotions, or Sylvia on our stage (just to name a few).  Jean serves on the Board of Directors for The Village and is also a teacher at Maumee High School.  When not working or acting, she enjoys traveling, reading, ballroom dancing and going to the theatre.

John Henry (Maurice Koenig"A man of many talents" barely begins to describe this dedicated thespian. John has been an usher, a house manager, light and sound tech, spot operator, set designer and builder, painter, scenic artist, box office attendant ... the list goes on. John is also an accomplished actor, having appeared in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Arsenic and Old Lace, Of Mice and Men, and Painting Churches, but that's only since 1999. Additionally, John is an OCTA award-winning director for his debut production of Pvt. Wars. With such a diverse background in the theatrical craft, you can understand why he's one of our most cherished volunteers. When not here, John enjoys old British cars, motorcycles, history and archaeology, but we have a hard time letting him go long enough to get around to those things.
