Much Ado About Nothing

The Director

D. Nicholas Hansen: Derek is no stranger to theatre, let alone The Village Players. He currently serves as an at-large board member for our Board of Directors. Here, he has played Slim in last season's Of Mice and Men, Silvio in Pvt. Wars and Mickey in Greetings, winning and "Excellence in Acting" from the Ohio Community Theatre Association for the last two. Last summer he was in two movies, In The Company of Strangers and Backwater. He has also been seen in Murder by Misadventure (Toledo Rep), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Valentine) and Twelfth Night (University of Toledo). This summer Derek will receive his B.A. in acting from the University of Toledo.

The Cast

Peter Mackey (Leonato):  Mr. Mackey debuts with The Village Players in this production, having worked on just about every other stage in the area since moving to the region in 1993.  Since last fall he has appeared in Murder by Misadventure, Art, Bus Stop, Pools Paradise, and, most recently, Gross Indecency.  As always, this is for Dia, his most special Angel.

Matt Kizaur (Don Pedro):  Matt is pleased to be back at the Village and working with this wonderfully talented cast and crew.  Matthew has worked as a professional and community actor since age 16 and has recently accepted a position at Northview High School as a drama and English teacher.  his favorite Shakespearean roles include Hamlet, Mercutio, and Hal which he did for Actors center DuPage in Chicago.  He was recently seen as Lenny in Tom Hoffbauer's film In the Company of Strangers.  Matt sends his love to Cheri.

Gregory Hartman (Claudio):  Gregory is another computer person by day, he is a Systems Analyst for Marathon Ashland Petroleum Company.  In his spare time he enjoys traveling, weightlifting, learning spanish, Ohio State football and basketball, and most importantly, his family, especially his nephews; Sean, Griffin, Joel and Graham.  He's not a stranger to the stage, having appeared in Rex, Annie, Guys & Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof, No Sex Please, We're British and The Sound of Music

Sarah M. Collier (Hero):  Sarah is no stranger to the theatre.  You may remember her from Children, here at the Village, in the role of Barbara.  She has been in many other shows, including South Pacific, Anything Goes, Oliver!, and Arsenic and Old Lace.  Being onstage is her passion, and quite possibly, her one addiction.  Sarah thanks her family for their continuing support, her friends for their unending tolerance, and especially to Kate Argow, a speedy recovery, "I love you!"

Ben Lumbrezer (Benedick):  Ben is no stranger to The Village, in fact, we think he may live here. In the past eight years he has performed in Of Mice and Men, Six Degrees of Separation, 1940's Radio Hour, Abandoned Houses, White Liars/Black Comedy, Conversations With My Father, Moon Over Buffalo, Last Night of Ballyhoo, and many more that he can't recall or has blocked out. He is a past Vice-President of Production and currently serves on our PlayReading Committee. In his spare time he enjoys backpacking, canoeing, camping and other outdoor activities.

Christine D'Amato (Beatrice):  Christine has been very busy in theatre, and feels totally at home on stage.  For Notre Dame Acadamy she has been in Oliver!, Carousel and Guys and Dolls.  She'll be enacting the role of The witch in their fall production of Into the Woods.  She has also been in St. Francis' production of Annie and St. John's production of Bye, Bye Birdie.  She has played the violin for 10 years, the alto saxophone for seven and has been singing since the age of three!!  Welcome to the Village, Christine!

Thereasa Rinderknecht (Margaret):  In 2001, Thereasa performed with the Lamplighters Light Opera Company in San Francisco, CA, where she appeared as Pitti Sing in The Mikado and Sister Manichewitz in the Champagne Gala Sacre Bleu.  Thereasa also performed with the Sausalito Opera Festival.  After returning to her hometown of Toledo in December, she joined The Village Players as Petra in A Little Night Music.  By day she keeps things humming as an Administrative Assistant at Honeywell in Perrysburg.  She enjoys camping, hiking and traditional Native American dance.  She would like to thank her beloved family and friends for their continued and unwavering love and support.

Angela Metcalf (Ursula)  Angela has been with the Village doing behind- the- scenes work on many shows.  This is only her third appearance on the Village Stage, having last been seen as Rosalind in Moon Over Buffalo and as a traveler in The Trip to Bountiful.  She is currently a student of Social Studies Education at the University of Toledo.  

Zac Gilley (Barachio):  This is Zac's first time on stage since 1995!  What's more, it's the first time on our stage!  He doesn't say what his last role was, but we imagine it had something to do with medieval recreations since that's what he does in his spare time.  By day he repairs computers and networks.  Welcome, Zac!

Dev Samael Daval (Conrad):  Dev is new to theatre in just about every way shape and form.  Prior to his current role as a home businessman, he served in our country's Navy.  His claim to fame is his eclectic choice of media genre .. from books to movies to authors.  Welcome to the the Village, Dev!

Brad Riker (Don John):  Brad, though new to the Village, has appeared in many productions, including, On Golden Pond, Witness for the Prosecution, Wait Until Dark and Gross Indecency.  He keeps himself busy as a Visual Merchandising Manager for Elder Beerman during the day.  Welcome to the Village, Brad!

Thomas D.  Kleinert (Dogberry):  You may remember Tom from last year's Mixed Emotions or the year prior's  Laughter on the 23rd Floor. He is also signed on for a 3-year term on The Village's Board of Directors. Tom is no stranger to Toledo theatre, having appeared in numerous productions from the Rep to the University of Toledo. Professionally Tom has performed at Gramma Rose’s, with Harold’s Pilgrims, Muse Machine, and the Rep’s "Young Playgoers". Tom is also a member of the Around the Bend Players, an improv comedy troupe.

Matthew William Hudson (Verges):  Hudson has spent his last five years in Marquette, Michigan studying filmmaking, theatre, english, history, computer programming and music.  Somehow, among all that, he found time to act also, because he has been seen in such shows as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Assassins and Reprogrammed, to name a few.  This, however, is his debut performance at the Village.  Welcome, Hudson!

Rick Vaught (Antonio):  Rick was last seen at the Village in 70, Girls, 70.  Other shows here have included Abandoned Houses, Prelude to a Kiss, Conversations With My Father, Six Degrees of Separation etc.  He has also appeared at the Toledo Rep, the Croswell Opera House, and many other area theatres in Ohio and Michigan.  Some of his favorite shows, beside those above, includes Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar, 1776, Evita, Guys and Dolls, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.  Rick is a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, he enjoys instrumental and vocal performing, and his cats .. who accompany him when he sings.  By day he is a Youth Specialist at the Adrian Training School.  Rick would like to thank his wife, Barb, for her love and support, and also Derek for this opportunity.

Marc Malley (Friar) - Marc is no stranger to the Village. He last appeared on our stage as Pops in 1940's Radio Hour, before that as Artie in The House of Blue Leaves. He has also appeared as Mr. Dusel in The Diary of Anne Frank with the Black Swamp Players. More frequently than his stage appearances, Marc can be found in our sound booth making the actors sound great!  Marc is also the secretary for the Board of Directors of The Village. 

Joel Ungerleider (Sexton):  Joel is celebrating many, many years of community theater work, and cherishes every role, with his favorite always being the one yet to come. Since his retirement, Joel loves to explore magic, golf, travel, and reading. He would like to thank his lovely wife, Paula, for her encouragement and support.

Jason Champion (watchmen/messenger):  Jason has appeared in two high school plays; Death and Life of Larry Benson and Get Witch Quick, he also has appeared in numerous band performances. He's kept off the streets by Midway Products in Monroe, Michigan where he is a Network Analyst.  In his spare time he enjoys musical composition and production, he also touts being a mad-scientist of the fourth degree, and while he has yet to cause the life or demise of anything, he knows how to get under Detroit Edison's skin.  Welcome to the Village, stay out of the light booth!
