2000 Vippie Awards

Tuesday, June 20, 2000

The Vippies are the Village Players' way of thanking everyone who has made a season possible.  To gather together with old friends, make some new ones, and introduce yourself to that person that worked on that show that you thought was cute .. or whatever.  At any rate, as with all Village Functions, there is food and entertainment which everyone contributes to equally.

For the second year in a row, Don and Kathie Weber hosted that annual "Vippie Awards" at their beautiful home.  Many familiar faces and several new filled the crowd inside and out as people ate, caught up, and admired the landscaping and decor.  Contrasting the '99 Vippies, the weather held out just long enough for the meeting to be called to order before a downpour began.  Lucky for us Don and Kathie planned ahead to have the meeting indoors.  General business out of the way, Matt "fearless leader" Wiederhold, Board President, pressed into the issue of By-Law revisions.  After some discussion it was found that due to loophole in the current by-laws,  revisions and the adjunct elections of the Board of Directors would be tabled until the July 18th meeting.  The general membership asked that the current board maintain their positions for an additional month while the necessary arrangements were made.

Next, Matt the stated the Presidential Goals for the 2000-2001 season.  After much deliberation, and realizing that only so much can get done in the course of a year, Mr. Wiederhold has laid before the board a set of goals that will drive the theatre to work more closely and expand  our presence in the community.  They are (including, but not limited to):

bullet500 Season Subscriptions by October 1, 2000
bullet10 new active volunteers and production staff by June 1, 2001
bullet3 new lighting instruments by January 1, 2001
