Trip To Bountiful

The Director

Willard E. Misfeldt Willard is a recently retired Art History professor from B.G.S.U. He has been very active at the Village recently, both as a Board member and most recently as the designer for The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild. He also directed and designed Night Watch at the start of our previous season. Adding to this are several directing credits and nearly sixty set designs for shows since his arrival in the Toledo area from his native Minnesota in 1967. His current hometown of Bowling Green doesn't miss out either, as Willard also serves as Vice President of Black Swamp Players.

The Cast

Richard Gray (Second Houston Ticket Man) A very familiar face here at the Village, Richard was most recently seen in last season's Night Watch. We're not sure how many of you can remember his first performance with the Village. Richard boasts of appearing in The Desk Set, circa 1956, even before we were here at our present location on Upton. Welcome once again Richard and thank you for gracing our stage for so many years.

James Helberg (Ludie Watts) James has appeared in numerous productions around the area, mostly in Detroit and Eastpointe, Michigan, including Tapdance, Two by Two, and Jesus Christ, Superstar. Locally, audiences at Ms. Rose's Dinner Theater enjoyed James in Norman, Is That You? His longest run was with Quilt, A Musical Celebration which played at various venues throughout Michigan from December, 1993 to April, 1995. Welcome to the Village, James!

Ellex King (First Houston Ticket Man) Ellex is planting the seeds of stardom with this, his first show anywhere. His "real" job is as an employee of the Unisys Corporation of Toledo. We at the Village welcome you to this and, hopefully, many more shows to come.

Ben Lumbrezer (Harrison Ticket Man) Ben was last on the Village stage in White Liars and The 1940's Radio Hour. He performs for the Mystery Theatre at the Spaghetti Warehouse. Ben was in the 1994 All Ohio State Fair Youth Choir and appeared in Madame Butterfly with the Toledo Opera. He is currently a patient transporter at Toledo Hospital and is a Semi-Professional Actor. Hello again, Ben!

Angela Metcalf (Second Traveler) Angela has been with the Village before, doing behind-the-scenes work on many shows, including the last two productions. This is her first time to be seen here, although she is no novice to the stage. Her previous experiences were at Start High School in their student-written productions called Shenanigans. Currently a student in Education at the University of Toledo, she would like to thank her parents and everyone else who has supported her efforts, especially for all the rides to and from the theatre. Welcome Angela!

Patricia Rudes (Mrs. Carrie Watts) The Village is thrilled to have Pat on our stage once again. Her most recent roles at the Village include Mary in The Octette Bridge Club, Mam in And a Nightingale Sang, and Agnes in A Delicate Balance. At the Toledo Rep her favorite roles include Grandma Kurnitz in Lost in Yonkers, Martha in Arsenic and Old Lace, and Miss Prism in The Importance of being Earnest. She appeared as Ethel in On Golden Pond with the Black Swamp Players and as Mother Superior in Lilies of the Field at LaRoe's Dinner Theater in Grand Rapids, and B.G.S.U. was fortunate to have her as Linda in Death of a Salesman. In her (not so) spare time Pat is private piano teacher in a studio in her home.

Dia Salmanpoor (Thelma) This is Dia's first time at the Village. She is currently a theatre major at the University of Toledo where she performed in The Covering. She has also been seen as Gloria Rasputin in Bye, Bye Birdie at the Ohio Theater, and three productions at Ms. Rose's Dinner Theatre - Norman, Is That You?, A Sting in the Tail, and I Hate Hamlet. She has recently been a featured player in an independent film called The Omegan, which was shot in Detroit. She would like to thank her friends and family for all their support and encouragement "on her struggling career as an actor". Best of luck, Dia, in this and future endeavors.

Erin Tice (Jessie Mae) Another one of the Village's new budding actresses, we'd like to welcome Erin to our stage. Somewhat of a traveler, she started performing at Central Catholic High School appearing in The Mousetrap and Runaways, and then moved on to Santa Cruz, California to perform in A Taste of Honey, Baby with the Bathwater, and Terminal Bar. She also has had extra training in being a spoken word performer. Erin would like to dedicate this performance to her Grandma Ruth. Welcome, and "break a leg", Erin.

Joel Ungerleider (Sheriff) Joel is a veteran thespian, having accumulated fifty years of community theater appearances. His last roles at the Village were the Father in Beau Jest and the Grandfather in Broadway Bound. Having retired from pharmaceutical sales, he has taken up magic as a future avocation. Joel would like to thank his lovely and cooperative wife who has allowed him to pursue his dreams on stage.

Tim Villarreal (Traveler to Leighton) This is Tim's second time on the Village stage. His other appearance was as two characters - the Invisible Man and Rex Bulby in The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild. He also had the opportunity to work at the Collingwood Arts Center as Mac in You Can't Take It With You. A poet, and a student at the University of Toledo, he would like to thank two very important and special people in his life - Cienna My Villarreal and Melissa Tormoehlen.
