Octette Bridge Club

The Director

John Henzler (Director) John and his wife Elizabeth have been active members of the Village Players for many years. John has acted and directed, and has served on the Board of Directors. Elizabeth volunteered in all areas, most notably in our Box Office. In recent years they have shifted their time to raising 3 darling daughters. John has returned to the Village this year as a Director and we are glad to have him back! 

The Cast

Sally Malhoit (Martha) This is Sally's second appearance at the Village this season, having portrayed Emily in Greetings. Her past appearances include Lotte in the Lettace and Lovage, Fonzia in The Gin Game and Fannie in Royal Family. By profession, Sally is the Vice Chancellor for the Catholic Diocese. She also teaches speech and theatre at On Stage Studio in Maumee. Sally thanks all of her wonderful newly acquired sisters! The Village thanks husband Jack for letting us have her twice this season! 

Patricia Rudes (Mary) Pat, along with husband Jim, is well known to local theatre audiences. She has appeared on just about every stage in the area. The Village was lucky to have her in our productions of A Delicate Balance and And A Nightingale Sang. She also was the piano accompanist for A Day in Hollywood; A Night in the Ukraine. Pat has a B.A. in theatre from Bowling Green State University. She has taught acting as well as given piano lessons to many lucky students. It's a pleasure having you back, Pat!

Nancy Janney (Connie) Nancy has been associated with the Village Players for over 26 years, both on and off stage. This is Nancy's second appearance this season, after appearing in our first production as Helga the German maid in Night Watch. Last season she appeared as Mrs. Walworth in Speaking of Murder. Other productions at the Village include Streetcar Named Desire, The Man Who Came to Dinner and The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail. When not at the theatre, Nancy is the Circulation Supervisor at the Sylvania Branch Library. Nancy would like to dedicate her performance to her two "real" sisters, Sharon and Joyce.

Cheryl Tanner (Nora) Cheryl comes to us from the Genoa Civic Theatre where she is active in many of their products. She considers herself an "Octette groupie" as she has appeared in this production at Genoa, Fremont Community theatre and Oregon Community Theatre. Other performances include Penny in You Can't Take It With You and the mother of the bride in Plaza Suite. By day, Cheryl is a teacher in Genoa and also volunteers her time for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of NW Ohio. "Thanks to my family for ‘reading' lines with me and my mother who encouraged me to go on stage."

Donna Wollenslegel (Alice) Like Cheryl, this is Donna's third appearance in The Octette Bridge Club. She also hails from Genoa Civic Theatre. Other performance include Clairee in Steel Magnolias, Mrs. Savage in The Curious Savage and Mother Superior in Agnes of God. Donna is an elementary school teacher in Genoa. Her other hobby, besides theatre, is making crafts. "I'd like to thank my husband John for his patience that allows me this opportunity to grace the stage of the Village Players. You can grace our stage anytime Donna! 

Vickie Anderson (Lil) Vickie has appeared on many stages in the Metropolitan Toledo and SE Michigan area. On the Village stage she has appeared as a Mill Worker in Working, Mrs. Krebs in Inherit the Wind and Retirement Home Director in Marvin's Room. She has also worked behind the scenes as a techie, working sound and stage managing as well as working in the lobby. "Special thanks to my husband Andy for putting up with my stage stress. And thank you Vickie for all of your countless hours of time and talent!

Tina Hoffman (Ann) This is Tina's first time on the Village stage. She recently returned to the Toledo area, having transferred back with the Dana Corporation. Her favorite roles include Sister Leo in Nunsense II, the housekeeper in Man of La Mancha and Louise in Gypsy. Break a leg Tina, and we hope you appear in many more productions at the Village.

Andrea Willard (Betsy) Andrea joined the Village family during the last production on which she worked as a sound technician. This time she is on stage in her first role in a Village production. Past performances include Sister Leo in Nunsense and Liz in Baby. "Thanks to everyone at the theatre and especially my director." Good luck Andrea!

John P. Stewart (Robert Foster) John is new to the Village and is wearing many hats in this production. In addition to acting, John designed the lights for the show and has helped out in every other technical area. Currently a theatre major at the University of Toledo, John has stage managed many of their productions. John also is an instructor at John Casablanca's and Jeanne's model and talent agencies. "Thanks to my fiancé Kelly Haas for her support and love." Thank you John for giving of you time and talent!
